Overview
What this instrument measures, and how it fits the range.
The FS Series Spectrophotometer covers 8 models, FS300 to FS601S. The FS300 is a visible-range instrument covering 320–1100 nm with a tungsten lamp; the other seven models cover 190–1100 nm with deuterium and tungsten lamps. Optical systems differ across the range: single beam (FS300, FS500 to FS501S), split beam (FS400) and double beam (FS600 to FS601S). Spectral bandwidth is 2 nm, 1 nm or 0.1/0.2/0.5/1/2/4/5 nm depending on model, and the comparison table lists every value side by side.
Key points
- 11-inch Touch Screen
- Photometric measurement, quantitative analysis, wavelength scanning and kinetics are accessible from the main screen. Dedicated nucleic acid and protein analysis modules simplify routine operation.
- Optical design depends on the model: FS300, FS500, FS501 and FS501S are single beam, FS400 is split beam, and FS600, FS601 and FS601S are double beam. A dual-beam system detects the sample and reference beams at the same time, compensating in real time for light source fluctuation, temperature drift, baseline drift and ambient interference. It minimizes the impact of lamp energy variation and blank drift during long-term kinetics tests, batch analysis and low-concentration measurement. All eight models scan at up to 30,000 nm/min at a 0.02 nm interval, so a full UV-Vis spectrum and real-time absorbance changes are acquired quickly.
- Seven models carry deuterium and tungsten lamps and cover 190–1100 nm, with automatic lamp switching. The FS300 uses a tungsten lamp only and covers 320–1100 nm. Optical performance is specified by stray light, photometric accuracy and repeatability.
- Narrow slit improves spectral resolution for differentiating similar wavelengths; wide slit increases light throughput to enhance sensitivity for low-concentration samples. Slit adjustment is flexible without extra accessories.
- Optional barcode scanner enables fast sample entry and reduces manual errors. It supports permission management, e-signature, audit trail and LIMS connection for standardized lab data management.
- Supports cloud, USB-B, email and SMS data output. Optional Wi-Fi, A4 laser and thermal printing.
- Extensive accessories are optional, such as auto sample holder, film holder, integrating sphere, Peltier temperature-control / sipper system, etc.

How does the FS Series differ from the M Series?
Both ranges are built as eight models: the M Series runs from M300 to M601S and the FS Series from FS300 to FS601S. Optical tolerances are the same on both: wavelength accuracy ±0.1 nm at 656.1 nm, photometric accuracy 0.0005 A and stray light ≤0.03%T. The FS Series scans at up to 30,000 nm/min against 8,000 nm/min on the M Series, and the FS501S and FS601S add 0.1 nm and 0.2 nm bandwidth steps to the standard set. Choose between the ranges on scanning speed and bandwidth rather than on optical quality.
Can the FS Series run kinetics and quantitative methods?
Yes. The work modes are transmittance, absorbance, concentration and energy (T, A, C, E), and photometric measurement, quantitative analysis, wavelength scanning and kinetics are all reachable from the main screen. Scanning speed goes up to 30,000 nm/min, and wavelength shifting runs at 100,000 nm/min.
How is data exported from the instrument?
Cloud connectivity, USB-B, e-mail, SMS and Bluetooth are built in. Wi-Fi requires the optional module, which is ordered separately. For a QC laboratory that keeps records in a LIMS, confirm which of those paths your IT policy allows before ordering — local USB export always works, network transfer depends on the site.
